When Julian Maliszewski walked through the doors of Reliable Plating Works in 1929, he brought with him a tireless work ethic, big dreams and strong values. The young bookkeeper hoped to own the small electroplating company one day-a goal he achieved in only a few years.

Soon, Julian's dream became a family tradition. His son, John, joined the company in 1953, bringing fresh ideas to transform the company with technology and specialization. In 1967, a fully automated line was installed, ushering in an era of rapid growth, process improvements and financial strength. John became a major shareholder in 1970 and assumed leadership of the company.

Over the following two decades, John's sons-Jack, Jaime and Jeff-learned the trade from the ground up, earned progressively higher levels of responsibility, and took over the helm in 1996, with designs to grow the business even more.

As a new century dawned, the three brothers pioneered several innovative and successful expansion ventures: Brilliance, LLC, a holding company that gives partner organizations buying-power through volume, and Elite Finishing, a state-of-the-art plating facility specializing in decorative finished on aluminum (Reliable primarily plates on steel). A short time later, the Maliszewskis bought out other investors, and Elite became a highly profitable subsidiary of Reliable Plating Works.

The latest technology, streamlined processes and exceptional quality have set the stage for continued growth. Together, Reliable and Elite boast 150 employees-a giant step from the five workers Julian managed in the early years-and serve big-name companies in the automotive, appliance, hardware, lock, plumbing, medical equipment and motorcycle industries.

The Maliszewski family remains committed to its employees, customers and the world around them. The value of hard work and a positive attitude have been passed down from generation to generation, and leadership opportunities are earned, not bestowed. The company works with many charities and takes a national leadership role in the electroplating industry-as part of their commitment to give back and look forward.

As the next chapter unfolds, Reliable and Elite are poised for growth and equipped for long-term success. Whatever the future holds, one thing is clear: the company will remain true to the qualities that fueled Julian's American dream: quality and integrity. The legacy continues.
